Helicopters
can land behind the Refugio to drop off and pick up
passengers.The Refugio provides excellent access
to superb off-piste skiing principally on San Jose volcano.

Ski
mountaineering is big in the United States and Europe
but only recently taking hold here. From the Refugio
there is easy access to the footsteps of San Jose where
you can go on to easily find virgin 1000m vertical descents.
