BIG WALLS
Rock, Ice and one of the most difficult ascents in South America.

Mount Morado southern face – 4490m – 5.9 one of the most difficult ascents in South America.

Mount San Francisco – 4345m Classic ascent over rock & ice , various routes.

Mount Arenas southern face – 4366m Difficult high altitude ascent over rock.

Punta Zanzi northern face – 3800m Very demanding walls above Lo Valdes. 5.9 – 5.11.

Mount Meson Alto south face – 5257m Ice climb to a peak over 5000m.

 

ROCK CLIMBING
 We have some great options for rock climbing, watch climbers from the refugio.

 

Placa Roja – vertical uplifted plate with 3 principal routes 5.7 – 5.10. Equipped with chains for rope lengths of 50ms – watch climbers from the refugio.
Placa Gris – north face – 5.8 with stunning views.
Placa Verde – 1 route of 400m equipped 5.10
Hitchcock zone – zone with 7 routes with up to 7 pitches. (5.7 – 5.12)
Punta Zanzi – 7 routes in sandstone from 5.9 to 5.11 all with protection.
La Engorda Columns – almost 2500m above sea level on the way to Plantat on San Jose volcano – Volcanic rock with 20 routes of 5.7 – 5.11
Puente Colina – 5 easily accesible routes from 5.7 and above.
Banos Morales – another newly equipped area for advanced climbers.
San Gabriel – good granite cracks and sport climbing 5.8-5.11c

ICE CLIMBING
The Cajon offers several possibilities for ice climbing, either to practice or as a challenge to the climbing experts.

 

Morado Glacier – hanging glacier good for practicing & single day climbs.
Morado south east route – 6-7 hours from camp at 3200m .
San Jose volcano icefall – high altitude climbing for experts.
Mount Marmolejo – used in publicity for Black Diamond – highly professional ice climbing.
